STORY
Why This Church?
For over a decade, we’ve proclaimed the gospel through music, film, preaching, and podcasting, walking with people in discipleship, community, and marriage. Our journey has always sat at the intersection of theology, culture, and creativity, driven by one heartbeat:
to help people see Jesus clearly in the middle of everyday life.It’s from this conviction that Church In The Middle was born, a church for people living fruitfully in the tension of being in the world but not of it.
Why Now?
South Africans are exhausted, and searching. Modern life has promised freedom but delivered anxiety, confusion, and loneliness. Many are rediscovering the church not for nostalgia, but for rest, truth, and belonging. In a culture tired of relativism and dislocated men and families, a Christ-centred church offers rhythm, purpose, accountability, and a better story for real life lived in the real world.
Why This City?
We believe God is calling us to create that kind of transformative space in Midrand, a vibrant, strategic city pulsing with ambition, creativity, and opportunity, yet marked by deep spiritual drift beneath the surface. Sitting between Johannesburg and Pretoria, Midrand is the “middle” in every sense: a place where people are chasing success, building families, shaping culture, and quietly wondering where God fits in.

Meet The Planter
BLAQUE NUBON
Blaque Nubon is a follower of Jesus, a husband, a father, and a creative storyteller who has blended theology, culture, and art for the past 12 years in ministry, sharing the gospel story with all people. An award-winning artist with a BA in Motion Pictures, and is yet to complete his master’s in religion.He co-owns a film company and uses music, film, preaching, and podcasting in his evangelistic approach. Passionate about community, discipleship, and marriage, he serves as a visionary and creative leader in planting Church In The Middle.

Blaque and Lilly have been married for 12 years and are the proud parents of their 6-year-old daughter, Zayah. Together, they share a deep love for Jesus, people, and the power of story to shape hearts and culture.Lilly is a multi-talented artist in her own right, a gifted film director, musician, and profound writer. She and Blaque met at film school, sparking a shared creative vision that continues to shape their ministry, marriage, and family.
